Exactly right. 2004, I raced at the 50th Indy. I stopped by the concession stand to pick up two small fries to go with the burgers we were cooking on the grill. Three bucks apeice. A hamburger was five dollars. A small pop was three dollars. So:
Burger $5, small fry $3, small drink $3, $11 per person, or $44 for lunch for a family of four. Assuming the (food) prices are still the same nine years later, admission plus lunch is close to two hundred bucks for a family of four (depending on how old the kids are). I know ticket prices vary by age, and by day of the event. But a family of four, for four days, how much are they going to have to spend? Plus gas/tolls to get there, motel, etc etc.
