Default Re: Oil Accumulator

I also have the 3 qt Canton accumulator. I was able to mount it on the left fender skirt. I used the Electric Pressure Control Valve Kit #24-273. I found out that the 20-25 pressure switch was too low and the pressure of the oil when the accumulator was activated would be enough to exceed 25 pounds which would shut the valve back off. So when activated it would turn on and shut off about 3 times every second. The 35 to 40 pound switch solved that problem. I also purchased the sandwich adapter from Canton and connected a 90 Female Jiffytite -10 fitting with the 1/2 NPT male to screw into the adapter (JIF-51808JE) from Summit Racing, I purchased a push to lock hose barb Male -10 plug with no valve (JIF-52510AP). I used a small length of Russell blue push to lock -10 Hose twist lock (RUS-6344000) hose. Finally I used a -10 push to lock Russell hose end at the accumulator switch with female flared end attached to a 1/2 male NPT flared fitting.

On wiring I found the a manual switch was just one more thing to remember each time I started the car so I wired it directly to the ignition rocker switch. Each time I go to start the engine I flip on the ignition rocker switch watch the pressure build and then start to drop and then after about 2 to 3 seconds flip the starter button.

One final thing is I have a RacePak with Oil Gauge. I programed the gauge to activate a small thin red warning light to come on at 20 pounds.

I hope that gives you some ideas. I have had this for 2 years and really like it.
