Default Re: Live from the Chevrolet Performance Center - Wixom, MI

Good morning gang - Yesterday started off terrible as when I arrived at the airport things looked normal but went downhill fast .As i waited for the boarding call this announcement came over - "we will not be boarding at this time and technicians have been called to fix a small problem".In my mind there is no such thing as a small problem in a plane but they did "fix" it and got me on my way .

Landing and getting on my merry way I arrived at the Performance Center only to find out because I was late - the place is like Fort Knox - locked tight as a drum and I couldn't get in .After some calls and texts I gained entry and joined the group finally. You folks know me - always some drama attached somehow - it just follows me .

The morning flew by with Roger Allen speaking on behalf of General Motors Racing .He spoke about new combinations for 2014 and what their goals were for the coming season .Exciting stuff is on the way - stay tuned .

After some lunch the reps from Holley EFI spent several hours with us working with their new system and showing everyone its new capabilities - this product can do things you wouldn't believe .

After a short break we toured the famed "Chevrolet Skunkworks" -places we've only heard about - where all the parts and pieces are born that go into our race machines .I'd love to tell you I got shots of everything I saw but no way - cameras not allowed in that area.

We then moved on to the Dyno area for a demonstration - they had a new COPO engine set up and ran it real time - would you believe it even can simulate burnouts and shifts .And in case you're thinking of having one of these babies in you shop - this one is one of four in the world - and it costs a mere 4 and a half million smackers. Not in my 2014 budget for sure .

Then it was back to touring - thev've got CNC machines all over the place - you'd be amazed what they can make out of a chunk of aluminum .

Today holds even more for us - back a little later .........

PS- No one told me about the famous snow squals in Michigan .
