Default Re: OLD Modified Corvettes

I admit that I hadn't been following this thread, between work, multiple events that we promote, post-race coverage, PRI, etc...

The Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals entered the planning stages more than a year ago and we finalized the format about half a year ago. While we cannot add competition classes at this point due to the massive turnout expected and a large number of special events already scheduled, we might be able to do something with a display area. Don't forget that IHRA has Super Stock Production classes that are eligible to compete (provided NHRA license and chassis certs for 9.99-quicker).

My advice to the 'group' would be to finalize and define a set of rules, stick to them, and start partnering with various Nostalgia type events, or start your own event(s) in order to establish the group.

- There's always going to be somebody that doesn't like the rules. You need to define the rules and STICK TO THEM. I've seen infighting about rules among the various 'specialty' race crowds, and it hurts them. While you do need to make *informed* decisions, ultimately, they are *decisions*. Consistency is key.
- Partnering with existing series may be the only way to get off the ground. With the whirlwind of different ideas presented here, a sanctioning body or promoter is not going to latch onto it, because there is not yet anything concrete *to* latch onto. The most likely scenario is that you create a small group of a dozen or so cars yourselves in a 'club' and promote yourselves as a booked-in show, like the Supercharged Warriors, etc. You could be a good add-in show to many Gasser and other Nostalgia shows. You need to be planning, building and testing now in order to have a viable product ready for 2015.

$.02,
