I know more than the average guy regarding class racing, definitely not as much as most of you, but I don't understand how all of this will work and see many problems. Our cam is a perfect example.
When I decided to try our hand in Pure Stock our Corvette wasn't legal in IHRA because they didn't have camshaft information. I contacted Mike Baker and got what he needed from Mark Kent at GM. He provided me with GM specs for the 2004 LS1 camshaft. I sent those to Bullet and John ground us a legal Pure Stock cam. Here is the card:
You'll notice the lift is 466/478. However, I did more research AFTER we installed the cam and if you go to NHRA's website and look at the Engine Blueprint Specification sheet for our particular application the cam lift is listed at 515/515.
So, which number is correct? Where did Mark Kent (someone who is in the know at GM) come up with 466/478 and where did NHRA come up with 515/515? And if GM was wrong do I have the incorrect duration also?
Very frustrating.
