But that's not uncommon, it's not cheating and it makes sense. If the combustion chamber is very close to spec, you run the risk of coming up small during teardown if you measure it when the head is very warm. The alcohol expands when heated so not as much will fill the chamber during measurement. You are smart to get the head back to the same general temp it was when it was checked in your shop.
