It was a long, hot two-and-a-half days in Topeka. Our first round matchup with Larry Hodge was met with much anticipation. Who wouldn't want to be the ones to knock him back down to earth. He's been on such a tear lately, and we soon found out he wasn't going to be stopped. At least by us anyway.
Dad took the stripe by .0077, but broke out a tenth to do it. The classic "good light, bad light" story. Dad beat him first round of Indy in 2008, so I guess they're even. Meeting and talking with Larry over the course of the day, I'd have to say he's another one of the class acts of our sport. Great guy, fun weekend. And most importantly, got back home safely.
So, for all of you who stayed home because of the heat, just wait for a month from now when we get to do it all over again here in Topeka. Will we see 110-112 degrees. I wouldn't bet against it!
Congrats to all of the winners today. You all truly earned it!
