Default Re: prayers for dan dvorak

As I say a prayer for Dan and his family I am reminded of the time I spent an entire afternoon with him. That afternoon was many years ago at the Gatornationals.

Dan had just won his class and was not in the group picked for teardown. The competitor that Dan outran for the trophy had a different idea. He approached Dave Danish and wanted to protest Dan, saying there was no way a Dodge could run that kind of MPH. Danish said it was too late to protest but the racer would not accept no for an answer. Finally Danish told me to go ask Dan if he would be willing to teardown for the protest money. I explained to Dan it was his option to go thru a complete teardown which included a piston removal and also the transmission out looking for a lock-up convertor. Dan did not hesitate for a moment. He said, "where do you want the car?"

Dan's car passed the complete teardown. After it was over I made a comment to Dan that some parts in his engine did not look as nice as I would have expected. Dan looked at me and smiled saying something like, "sometimes you just have to make the best of what you have to work with." I've always remembered what Dan said that day.

So Dan...keep up the faith and "make the best of what you have to work with".
