The rule language was changed in 2014 when roller rockers were introduced. Prior to the introduction of roller rockers, the rule book was not specific as regards to the OEM configuration.
The rule book just said that guideplates and studs were allowed and the reason why a lot of racers did put guideplates and studs with the OEM rockers. As a matter of fact, many Ford racers used the Boss 302/Boss 351 and 429 Cobrajet fulcrums that allows the use of studs with the OEM Ford rockers.
Again, the language was added when roller rockers were allowed in the class.
