Anybody that thinks that Pro Mod is not a performance based class has obviously never raced it. Thinking that all you have to do is just "turn up the boost" to go quicker is ridiculous. A power adder engine is no different from a naturally aspirated engine, in respect to the fact the whole package has to be worked on to make the most of it.
There is only so much "boost' available from any given power adder. and all of the max effort Pro Mods that show up at a NHRA race have long passed the performance level that it alone provides. Once that threshold has been reached, extra power has to be found in the details, (heads, cam, stroke/bore ratios, etc) exactly like a naturally aspirated engine. And then, they are faced with the daunting task of getting all of the power to hook.
I've spent a lot of time with Pro Mods in the past. As a spectator and fan, I would much rather watch them than Pro Stock. As a racer, I would still rather go with Pro Mod. Quicker is ALWAYS better, lol.
