Mr Money,
The first thing you will want to do is give us a proper introduction..Name, and where you are located, etc.
There is probably someone here that's in your area that will help you out.
You need to get hooked up with someone who knows and understands what passes for Stock in 2016.
The rulebook is a good place to start, but if you follow it as written, you'll be way behind the curve. It might take years to catch up.
I know you want to do it all yourself for the satisfaction. I do just about everything I can myself, but certain areas require help from the pros.
Cylinder heads, carburetor, converter, transmissions are some of these areas.
