Default new to stock eliminator

This is just the site I've been looking for. My name is jake mellgren im a bracket racer from MN. I have a 77 buick skylark race car. Right now I bracket race it with a bbc, powerglide, 12bolt. Its a stock suspension car. I really want to turn it into a stocker and adventually race at a national event somewhere. I have a lot of knowledge about race cars since its been in my family for 50 years. My family also owns a super gas 63 nova and a 69 buick gs pure stock. I want to run a chevy based motor. The 2 that have my attention are the 140hp 305 2bbl R/SA and the 160hp 350 4bbl G/SA (1979 only). I was leaning towards the 305 because I feel I could build a competitive one less costly. My machinist specializes in 305ci circle track engines(not that it means a ton for what I want). The 350 would be way too costly since to be competitive I would have to be in the low 11's. My car I feel is set up very well its very efficient. It runs low 11's with a low 400hp bbc. The car weighs 3200# with me in it. Any and all help/ insight is greatly appreciated.
