I went to Peter Clifford's presentation to the Sportsman Racers Friday. After it was over I spoke to him and three others about some of the issues thar Sportsman are concerned about. Item number one on my list was the Sportsman quotas. Response was that they were trying to insure a great experience for the people attending the race. I didn't get the impression that they were considering increasing the quotas. I then suggested that the grade point system needed to be revamped and did seem to get a more positive response. I brought up the oil down fines and was told that since they had started the fines the number of oil downs had gone down. I don't see this fine going away. I will be following up with them with a few ideas on the grade points. If you have any ideas pass them on to officials at NHRA.. Don't know that it will help but constructive ideas might.
