There were only two 4 door Hemi cars, both ended up in Wichita (go figure) back in the 70's. I rebuilt the engine in the car the Garlits has in his museum. It was neat to talk to him about that car at PRI several years ago, he claims he still drives it from time to time. The car had all original parts and the engine had about 166k miles as I remember and there was very minimal wear, we even went back with the original bore size and the crank just needed polishing. There were several strange markings stamped around on the block and with a little research it was determined that there were special bearing sizes (plus or minus .001) for each type of stamping. Cant remember all the details but it was amazing how well that Hemi held up for that many miles, back when most engines didn't make it past 100k.
