The T/A scooped hood was an available option on the '70 Challenger. Option code N94. It was available on the 340, 383, 440, and 426 Hemi. The Shaker shortage story arrived from the temporary period where the Shaker production was halted because of the lack of crumple zones in the hood. Crash tests showed the hood would come off and go through the windshield. The known N94 optioned car production dates are nowhere near the Shaker non-production period.

Here's a link to a factory option book showing the T/A Hood availability on other engines: http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/...1970/page3.jpg
