This is true, but Smokey Yunick had the idea for a tire and plywood sheet race wall in the early 1960s. NASCAR wasn't interested. He also put wings on open wheeled racers and was a master cheater. Also in the NASCAR hall of Fame.
I got the details from Wikipedia, but the original info came from Dale Jarrett. I love to race straight but NASCAR is more entertaining on TV.
Everything is old.
As for Nitro cars, at 320 a marble will tear a car apart. Cut nitro to 10 percent and combine Top Fuel and Top Alcohol into Fuel FC. Run 1/4 mile and add weight or restrict fuel flow to hold the speeds to 250 max.
I like the mix of blown alcohol and injected nitro in "alcohol" dragster, so maybe just make the TF dragsters run under those rules. More cars better competition and maybe fewer broken cars and parts.
