Re: 350 SBC Crankshaft Advice
Few years ago was trying to get a small block chevy 2 piece seal forged crank approved so I didn't have to waste money on factory and cast cranks any more. (Started with 010 block then moved to bowtie when it was the only performance block allowed later the chevy steel crank started flexing. so I was committed.)
Called Callies and spoke to someone familiar with S/SS who told me the company had no interest in making cranks that could be approved it would mean a new line and inventory with very limited sales. Was warned that is how they would react by my buddy who bought many cranks from them over the years.
Years later the Callies crank on the list showed up can only assume an engine builder with good relations had the crank made and approved. Never personally checked to see if there actually was any inventory because was working with Scat who had a 1 piece seal crank approved on the list.
After 2 years of trying to get Scat to do the process, another case of "is the effort worth the potential business" called and purchased a crank to ship to NHRA, went through the process which was pretty simple it's on the list.
If someone wanted to go through the process of getting a Pontiac crank approved spending all the time and money you probably will be successful.
