Pumping the engine for claimed cubic inches and also, to make sure they run the correct engine bore spacing. The rumor mill says there have been instances of some guys running small block Chevy engines with 4.50" bore spacing in classes were they must run the OEM, 4.40" bore spacing.

At Noble points race they had Bourgeois pull a head to check bore and stroke, bore spacing, injector size, rear tire width and wheel base. At Tulsa they had Rampy, Hildalgo and I believe Pitt and Stanfield pull a head.
