We never broke any of the early stuff. We used just enough rpm to hit the tree. Didn't try to rotate the earth on every pass.
I was looking through a catalog for rebuild kits for these and it looks like the earlier units have a larger input shaft bearing, so I'm getting that impression Mark. So a 5K clutch dump might be a bit much? A few times I was tempted to try what the ricer guys are doing and just put it on the rev limiter, 6200 in my case. Fear got the best of me.
