Depends on which flavor of SS you are talking about. "Back in the Day" there was Stock and Super Stock,. In these pure forms there isn't any difference in terms of body style, weight and engine (on the outside) between the two. NHRA assigns cars Factors based on shipping weight and HP rating. A 68 Mustang Coup 302 auto has the same factor in both S and SS classes, but there are different breakdowns in each. That car is K/SA or SS/LA natural classes. Where SS classification goes nuts is with all the "New School" classes like GT, Modified Stock and Modified. Here engine swaps and extensive allowed internal machining move the classification to the weight to cubic inch style of math that used to be used for Gasser and Altered classes
For SS, find the car in the NHRA Stock Car Classification Guide and locate the factor number under the ** (double asterisk) and take it to the Rule Book SS section. For other branches of SS, consult the oracle...
