You need the blinder set up so your head is in a normal setting position, not moving your head up or down. Get the blinder adjust to see 3/4 of the third bulb and yes close your left eye in the right lane and your right eye in the left lane, this takes away of seeing any peripheral vision in the other lane. Its like trying to shoot a rifle, 1 eye closed is a lot easier to hit a target than both eyes open.
