Brings up a good point. With sufficient quality oil the parts do not touch anyway.....we hope. I have experience with an alky fc where we missed the tune and could “mash” a bearing .060” wider at the bottom of the bearing than its stock width measure at the parting line without blackening them. Hence the oil never gave up doing its job and working overtime. If anything,
polishing gives you justification of cost when it’s prettier. BTW: I don’t miss 60 and 70wt oil in my hair between rounds.
