I believe this all started with some EPA lacky entering a clause regarding race car conversion into a set of regulations relating to long haul trucks without consulting up the chain. When asked about this during hearings, EPA officials were unaware os the language being discussed and stated they are not concerned with street vehicles converted for off road use. I believe this was resolved, but SEMA is still seeking specific legal protection for race engines to keep something like this from happening again.


Note: The legislation I referred to regarded Glider kits. Big rig trucks sold without engines and then fitted with per-emission motors and driven a million miles a year.
