Default Re: Why should NHRA care if Class Racing vehicles are banned

I'm glad to see SEMA protecting the right for us to create race cars, but I'm not sure if the suit they have joined is a good place to take a stand.

The company involved does aftermarket tunes for computer vehicles. One of their boxes for Ford 6.7L, the GBZ - E41 Maintenance Mode & Economy Tune 2011-2016 that I saw within the first 10 seconds of looking at their site contains this text:

"We know that many people use their trucks for pulling and hard work so the 45 more Horse Power comes in handy....We understand that these trucks are a lively hood for many, so we have taken extra care to ensure that this well rounded tune will be a good fit for any driving style."

No, I'm not against tuner chips or boxes. I've used them myself. But the EPA is always going to go hard against daily drivers modifying their emission equipment - so this has a distant relationship to the things we need to build race cars.

To be clear, I fully support the act that SEMA is proposing where there is no regulation for race only parts. But it's easy to see why the EPA went after this company.
