Default Re: Long Island getting a part-time drag strip

I went with my street car. Gates Opened at 8, was a little slow going as they teched people as they drove in, but I'm sure it'll speed up next time. Runs started around 11:00. It was just time runs, no bracket racing and it was a bit of a free for all to get in the staging lanes. It was open to everyone at once so you just had to get onto a long line to get into the staging lanes. Waited about 2 hours in line to make the 1st run, drove around and got right back on line and it took another hour and a half to make a second run. By that point is was 3pm and they were ending at 4 so I didn't get back on line.

They aren't using any track prep (cause local environmentalists companied about anything getting sprayed) I couldn't even get my street car to hook, everyone was spinning. Hopefully as they get more rubber down after a couple weeks it gets a little better. I was hoping they would've been doing some bracket racing instead of just time runs. It was fun though, hopefully we get something more permanent out of it.
