Don,
With all due respect, we're drag racing. This isn't kindergarten. We do not need nannies. We certainly do not need nannies who are not now, nor ever have been drag racers, but are in fact just clowns with business degrees wearing suits. Who likely do not even attend drag races unless paid to do so. Sorry. We're racing high performance automobiles. We should not require NHRA to "protect us from ourselves" to that degree. We're supposed to be adults.

You know, the truth is, IF something happened, the solution SHOULD be for NHRA to instruct 2-3 end track personnel, you know, the same people who watch to see if you bypassed the scales or fuel check, to watch cars coming off the track, and if anyone comes off the track and does not remove their blinder device, of whatever type or size, stop them, issue a DQ, and have them leave. In fact, once they've passed tech, which should include an inspection of any blinder type device, if anyone is observed with any form of blinder that does not fit within the rules, issue a DQ, and have them leave. Enforce the rules correctly, and equally, and the problem is resolved fairly. It won't take but 2-3 DQ's and people will obey the rules, and there won't be a safety issue. Be honest, there is NO EXCUSE to be driving in the pits with any device intended to obstruct your view. None. You are not in that big a hurry to return to your pit area.
