Default Something to Celebrate

Had the opportunity to be a presenter for the Disabled American Veterans scholarship fund at a local high school. The school was about 85% Hispanic. I thought to myself, I wonder how many of these kids are Dreamers or are undocumented immigrants. Seeing how proud their parents were at their students moving on to higher education, maybe something they were never able to achieve. As they received their awards I was impressed at the field of studies they were going into that would help their communities and this great nation, nursing, engineering, teaching, law. One of the big thrills of the night was a young lady that received an $85k scholarship to UC Berkley to study law. Our scholarship was presented to a young man that was Vietnamese and he was going to attend UCLA. A proud night for me, I only wish the best for these young people.
