Don, About 10 years ago at Wild Horse, I noticed that the right lane side of the tree was very dark and the left side had a lot more light from the tower , staging, etc.
I preferred to see the tree evenly lit for night racing so as to be able to see the third bulb before it came on.
I happened to know the manager at that time I asked if a floodlight could be installed in front of the tree. Sure enough, he was able to do it. Only fair that the tree would look the same for both lanes.
Maybe the background was added for sun blockage in the afternoon? If that's the case...good luck with your situation ;-)
