What does the combo that can be run in the car I race have anything to do with roller lifters for flat tappet stockers? Is that the new tactic/redirect?
You know I still have my Firebird, and I don’t have 1/10 of
the parts that you guys are allowed in your Chevrolets, so I really don’t want to hear about which fair and what the car came with then so on. I’ve been around this game a decent amount of time, I’ve seen the progression that your engine family has gone through from where it came from.
Barry anytime you build something is the best of everything and always very fast. I applaud you. Thanks for bringing up the availability of parts. Why don’t you try to find out what the leadtime is on a set of Jesel keyed lifters for a big block Chevy and cost while you’re at it. Because I’m sure when the roller lifters are allowed, that’s the lifters you will be buying for your engine.
Keep pushing for super stock, rules and parts and one day that’s what we’ll all be racing whether we like it or not

MY brother blew his small block Chevy up with Schubeck lifters. Took him over a year to get a good set of lifters. Todd says we can all do it with soft cams and lifters. You know like we did 25 years ago. He's right but we all know your going to slow down a bunch. If you're running a competitive class good luck in heads up runs. I'm not good with the Dodge/ Chrysler stuff. Maybe someone can help me out here. Back 15 plus years ago I ran a 69 Camaro. It ran ok (B/SA). But from one year to the next a Chrysler car went from just running ok in B/SA to flying the next year. I was told by a fellow racer that NHRA approved the NASCAR motor for the combo that it never came with. Anybody remember what year that was? BP
