Class Racers Revival "Bob Unkefer MVP"
At the inaugural Class Racer Revival, Unk worked the announcers booth the entire weekend. Constantly telling us just how awesome he thought the race was, and the idea in general. He knew it wasn’t as successful as we had hoped and at the end of the weekend when he brought us his invoice, he had cut it in half. That’s who Bob was. He LOVED the sport, the people, and everything that came with it. He saw our vision and our passion, and wanted to see it continue. I’ll never be able to repay him for what he did for us, but a gesture to remember the man, I can.
I’ve been keeping this secret for well over a year now. Warren Evans and I talked and agreed that we should remember Bob with an award at the CRR. Warren did all the work, and came up with this beautiful piece that will be awarded to the MVP of the event.
When we came up with the idea, it was set to be for the spring of 2022, then the fall, and then 2023, and then……..we didn’t know? We weren’t sure if this event would ever happen again. However, between Brian, myself, our team, the North Central Division, and WWTR team, we are going to shake it up.
Bob Unkefer was an amazing person that wanted nothing more than to see drag racing grow. He saw 2 younger people trying to do exactly that, and he supported us.
Good luck to all the racers competing next week and one of you will walk away with a very special piece to remember yourself as the most outstanding racer at the event, as well as remembering one of the best humans in the industry.
