I always ran mufflers on my Chevelle, using OEM style muffler hangers
https://www.opgi.com/exhaust/exhaust...y-ch28590.html at the rear of the mufflers, suspended from the stock location in the crossmember above. Throughout the years it had a 3” X and H pipe as well a 3 1/2” H pipe system with dumps.
