Looking at the qualifying sheet where he qualified how far under the F index his dial all week he may be in protection mode slowing the car down lowering the average. Running the headlights will load the alternator eating some HP.
The on off could be as simple as an old switch or loose ground.

This is to funny if you know the Sorenson brothers you know they are not to concerned about the averages that much. Just look at the hp, combos got last year. Also pretty sure they just took the points lead back and there is 20 plus points on the line to win this race, heads up in the final yea they are not worry about an average.
