Back when I first started racing they set records at every divisional and national open race. There would be a designated staging lane for the people attempting to set records. Put a circled "R" on your widow and go for it. You could make as many passes as you could from the record lane. This was during time runs and qualifying only. I set the record in my car many years ago twice. Once I broke my own record. Different times back then. The record in my class has been at a minimum for as long as I can remember. I would not waste my time to tear down to set a record now. Plenty of cars way faster than mine in my class.
