It is always perceived that way. Yes, NTR is downhill mostly and then goes up hill at the turnoff and Norwalk is mostly flat until the very end, then it actually drops. It is deceiving for sure... I watched Tony Schumacher's 336.15 mph record run in 2005 and he had to be pushed off the track because he didn't make it up the hill at the end.
1/4 mile cone to sand = 1990' NTR
1/4 mile cone to sand = 2010' Norwalk
1/4 mile cone to sand = 1570' Kil Kare (that one will get your attention if you're running 1/4)

That is interesting, on Hot Rod's Drag Week my son never commented on stopping at Norwalk but felt he had to get on the brakes pretty hard at National Trail. Is National Trail downhill? His car is heavy (3,500lbs) and runs 10.40s now probably a little slower at the time. Four wheel disk brakes.
