Default Stock and Super stock

All the arguing about them being bracket cars is far from the truth. It may feel as if you’re in a bracket race sometimes but you’re not sitting in a bracket car. I’ve wanted a super stocker since I was young but wasn’t in the cards. One of my best friends was a long time super stock racer John Turley “RIP” and once told me a story about the last car he built a 69 CJ mustang. He said after getting it built he loaded up towed it 5 1/2 hours to Amarillo, Texas and came home from first time out with the circled R on the windshield and the record that’s a feeling you could never have in a bracket car. To build a stocker or super stocker knowing when you get to the barn you’re going to be ok has to be a great feeling. Don’t t get me wrong winning a race in any car is great but doing it in those restraints has to be something. My car has been a drag car since 1965 and other than hood and front of rear wells opened up for a taller tire is stock appearing with full interior. It’s fun trying to see how fast you can go with a 9” tire. I’m sure winning in a big tired car that will hook on a gravel road with the best drive train you can afford is also awesome. It doesn’t get much better than sitting on a race track in a race car of any kind.
