Re: 1/8 th mile nhra???????
In today's world (i.e. today's NHRA upper management) I don't see this happening, unless there is a plan to build really tall grandstands at the national event tracks, because I doubt many spectators are going to pay for seats past the finish line. Along with that line of thinking, I doubt they will have this 1,000 ft. deal for 2009. Let's remember a little history, in 1984 NHRA said that all classes would be run on 1,000 ft. tracks begining in 1985, but that never came about.
This is JMHO, and I really dont care what the do with the professional classes one way or another. I don't watch them anyway, on TV or in person at an event.
Here is a thought that just may happen, and would not surprise me. All sportsman classes run 1/8 mile at national events "to expidite clean up time" in the event of a sportsman racer suffering mechanical failure.
Once again, this is JMHO (just my humble opinion), so take it as such.
