Default Re: Bill Kost - R.I.P. - GodSpeed!!!!

Bill Kost, A Division 6 icon and local hero. Bill and the entire Kost family have been one of only a few of what I consider to be the “Bread and Butter” Families of drag racing. When our sport has been down, It has been people like Bill who keep it going, by continuing to race and inspire others to start. They sponsor racing events at their Performance Grill Restaurant in Auburn. Just walking in there with all of the photos and décor makes you want to go to the races and check it out if you’ve never been. He loved this sport! I grew up at Puyallup and then SIR as my dad announced, raced and managed tracks. For 3 generations, my family has played with, raced with and competed against them for as far back as I can remember and then some. Bill has been ill the past few years, but in true drag racer form, I saw him in the staging lanes a few rows behind us at the nationals at Pacific a few weeks ago. He was racing not watching! I waved as I went by, I wish I had stopped to chat. Sometimes the sportsman classes don’t get much recognition, but if you looked back at the Kost family racing history, it is truly AMAZING! We have been lucky to have them as a part of our local racing heritage. I am hoping that we as a Division, a sport, and as a racing family, will always appreciate the people who have helped make this sport what it is and have continued to support it thru its journey of what it can become. You could write a book about Bills drag racing accomplishments, but for myself and my family we will truly miss our good friend.

Rest in Peace Bill.
