Radials tend to be faster but are more sensitive to different race car combos and track conditions. It wouldn't hurt to contact the manufacturers to see what they would recommend for such a combo. Some do have specific tires & recommendations for 4 speeds, which may have similar requirements as a transbrake equipped car. But I never ran either one.
You do need a stable sidewall and be able to run as much air pressure as possible (while still maintaining a solid footprint). A wider rim would help regardless of tire design used..
