Red face Re: Ohio based "90 series"?

Hey Guys:

Trails has been running a pretty good Super Series program but it maybe coming to an end in 2009. Layton and a group of racers had a meeting a couple months ago to discuss the issues. One of the main concerns is the track conditions. This has been an issue for quite a while but I say for the first time in a long time, 2008 was probably one of the best years for our car but don't know about anybody elses. If they don't get the car count, then the program is going to be eliminated. These are the issues that they have run into:

1) Scheduling interference with division and national events
2) Track conditions
3) Too long of down time between classes
4) Changing the roll out

This is the only track locally in Ohio that runs throttle stop races for practice for upcoming division or national events. I do believe the interference of schedules is a big factor. They run this program for almost 5 straight weeks beginning in May through early June. What they are going to try to do is run the program for 4 races and if they do not get the revenue through the gate, the program will be pulled.

As for the roll-out, if Trails does change it, then our Super Gas racing is out the door. Rick finally was able to finish in the top 2 in 2008 and so very proud of him. The car is pretty nose heavy right now, almost 2980 1b car. The roll out is changed in division and national events so we are zeroed out in the box already. The best we can do right now is is a mid teen to low 20's. Some of the guys were complaining because they were always cutting red lights and their cars are 700 1bs lighter than ours. Wouldn't that be adding a little bit to the box? I know we can't.

You guys that run these events, you need to let your buddies know what is going on. I would hate to see this program go away. I know Trails has had a reputation of a slick track and a pretty rough left lane, but they actually used traction compound this year during the series.

Hope everybody has a great year and talk to you soon.
