Got here this afternoon. Looks like lots of cars here. Of course, today is only test n tune. We are on hold now because a super street yellow nova turned his over. The driver is ok. The ambulance brought him back to his pits just down from us. If I find out his name, I will let you know. It was in the 80's this afternoon, but overcast mostly. There is a big time tailwind.
Some racers seen: Dave and Bev Picht from Div 5. They are going on to the St. Louis national race next week. Also-Jerry Bennett and George Widuch, Mike Stokes, Jimmy Bridges, Ray and Dave Buckner, Verne Buchanan. Oh and Jim Hale--I heard the hitch on his motorhome broke about 3 miles from the track. He is here, so I don't know just how he got here. Also Austin Ford, Gerald Nivans. I saw Amy and Ken Faulk's motorhome, but I haven't seen them yet. We are parked on the main part of the road course, so if you are here or are coming, come on by to see us! Just look for the Pink Cuda! More later. Patsy |

Larry, I just got a call from Austin. Him, Buckner, & JB Clegg were in a wreck. Seems a guy pulled out in front of them and they t boned him. Their in route to the hospital. JB & Austin got their heads banged pretty hard. Buckner may have a broken arm. This is the first time in 6 yrs. I wasn't with him. Bad crap happened that time too.

I just went down and talked to Jim Hale who is parked next to the Buckners. This wasn't a towing accident. They were in a car or truck. Jim said that he had heard that nothing is life threatening, but they are all banged up pretty good. When I hear more, or Charlie, if you hear from Austin let us know how they are doing. I talked to him this afternoon and he was telling me the story about Dallas. He was still fired up about that.
On to a different subject--It cost $150 to enter plus $50 to test today. Other divisions have a 3 day points race for the same amount of money. Then a crew ticket was $50. In reading in the dragster, a 2-day spectator ticket was $30, then spectator today $10. So if you got a crew ticket it cost $10 more. That is really treating the racer well, isn't it. So anyway, I am a spectator this weekend. Oh you have to get to the 5th round to get back your entry fee. I know we don't do this to make any money, but this is really sad. 3rd round gets $100, 4th is $125, and 5th is $150. On another note--Last weekend Al and Bev Provoast came by to visit for a while. They look great as usual. Al worked hard all day Saturday and Sunday helping Larry get the Dana put in the Cuda. At 77 years old, he had Larry wore out trying to keep up with him! They went on to Indy this weekend to see all their old division 3 friends. It was really grreat to see them. Well, we finally got to make a pass. At least the Dana didn't slow us down! More later. Beautiful day here in Memphis. 77 degrees when we made our 1st run. Air was 1353'. Track was hooking pretty good. Some of those at the bottom did not get good runs: Amy, Pendarvis, Hudson. Simoneaux was out of it at the 1/8 mile.
Went over to check on the wreck victims. Austin is bruised and sore. He said it feels like his legs and ankles are sprained. JB has a big bump on his head and wasn't walking too well. I didn't see David Buckner. He was still in bed in the motorhome. He has a dislocated shoulder with a fracture also. He's on a lot of pain medication. Hopefully they will all be feeling better soon. They were in Red Leblanc's Escort. Well, they have called us back up, so more later. Patsy |

Well, it has been a great day here in Memphis. Our race car ran pretty well all day. Ran within .02 all day. The only record I saw attempted was by Adger Smith. He didn't get the record since his wheelbase was off by 1/4". They did allow him to fix it, and make the last run to get a qualifying run for tomorrow. Things ran very well all day. Not much down time. We run after S/St who begins at 9 in the morning.
Some notes: Larry Hudson was having trouble with his fuel regulator, but finally got a good run. Amy Faulk had transmission troubles and Ken had a little problem with his blood pressure today and had to stay in and get hydrated. They do something here in Div 4 that I haven't seen anywhere else. In stock and super stock, they randomly select the 1st 3 people to begin for Round 1. I wonder if this is called the "Emmons rule"? LOL Well nothing very much going on tonight. We just went down and I had a glass of wine in a proper glass with all the Louisiana bunch. They were all eating a very healthy meal with Dr. Tommy Fudge. He finally put a new transmission in his super gas car and got it going. They were eating tuna and salad. He said that was killing his business though. (He is a heart surgeon!) Well, more tomorrow. It's another beautiful day here in Memphis. Sunny and even windier than yesterday. We beat Bill Harris on his breakout this morning. Lots of people broke out by just a little. Amy Faulk broke out a bunch though. Looks like she finally got the transmission fixed. J-rod red-lighted against Jerry Bennett in a heads up. Jerry has another heads up next round with the Country Dog. Patterson was a no-show against Steve Hunt, who we will race next. They are running SC now, then S/St, then TD, and Comp. They skipped over us for 2nd round, so I guess we will just wait and see when we run again.
More later. Patsy |

Got lucky that round. Our 60' went from 1.330 this morning to 1.408. Thanks to Steve Hunt for breaking out by .003. At least Larry is driving well. Had an .017 light that time. Jerry Bennett finally has to dial his car this round. Well more later.
