Exclamation Ford cj hp question

With all the talk on this site about the NEW 2008 or 09/10 Mustang CJ horsepower ratings---Not being a Ford follower what engine did the Factory use to create this engine ? & what is the factory HP rating for the UNBLOWN engine as well as the Factory HP rating for the CJ engine--- Do not care if the CJ rating is bogus just trying to see how much of a power increase was achieved by putting the blower on as opposed to a unblown engine---now I understand that cams were changed and valve sizes etc.really not rying to stir anything up just trying to see/understand how much HP increase can be achieved on an/any engine by supercharging it---thanx Comp 387

The CJ engine was not based on an unblown engine; Ford based this engine on the Shelby GT 500 engine which is the same size as the CJ (5.4 liters) and is blown. Prior to 2009, the Shelby GT 500 was rated at 500HP; for 2009 it is rated at 540hp. The 2008 CJ was rated at 425HP from the factory, it was recently factored to 439HP. The 2010 CJ will be rated at 475 HP.

thanx for the info---another ? is there any type of engine that Ford uses in another application similar in design to the CJ but WITHOUT a blower??? Just trying in my mind to see how much difference a blower makes by simply bolting it on instead of just having a normally aspirated engine. Like for example if you took the blower off and just had the FI no blower what would that same engine be rated at. 100 HP less 200/300 or what??? Thanx Comp 387

In 2008 the closest similar application was in the F150 truck, however that engine is the SOHC, 3 valve, 5.4 liter engine which produces 300 HP and 365 ft/lbs of torque. The 2008 CJ engine is a DOHC, 4 valve, 5.4 liter engine.

What was the Navigator engine? I thought it was a 5.4 4v.
I looked buying a new Lincoln Aviator (Explorer) once. Wasn't that a 4.6L 4V? I wanted it because it looked like good hot rod material. They had that tune so soft it was ridiculous, poor bottom end to 3500 RPM, then once it got going it retarded the throttle / timing when it shifted and it took forever to get the rev's going from there. I called a couple of chip tuners and they said they would never mess with it, small market and unique Lincoln wiring and computer. So I passed on it. My stock '05 Expedition with 5.4L 3v and 3.73's is much better on acceleration.
I'd love to play with a new SHO Taurus!

How about the '03 and '04 MACH 1 Mustang and the Cobra. They both had the 4.6L DOHC engines but the Cobra's was supercharged. If I remember correctly the Mach 1 had 305 hp and the Cobra 390 hp. I think these engines were the same except for less compression is the Cobra.
