Default 3 speed 55 or 4 spd 55 chevy yet?

I was wondering if anyone has successfully tried the 4 speed or used a 3 speed auto in the early "previously not allowed" cars? With the years of testing on the PG I figured it would be a while before gearset and converter combinations would be adjusted....
Thanks Dick

There is going to be a 4 speed '55 here in Tulsa soon. Parts coming. James (Lee) has talked about trying one of my T350s, but I don't have a converter with a high enough stall for his 265". Should be interesting.

Unhappy Re: 3 speed 55 or 4 spd 55 chevy yet?

I asked that question this past weekend at Charlotte and was told stick cars only .NO automatics as of yet .I was told this by Bruce Bachelder NHRA technical services representative. He said e-mail him with any request or suggesting .I thought i could run the 3-speed auto in my 66 nova ,but he said Nope .!!

Thumbs up Re: 3 speed 55 or 4 spd 55 chevy yet?

Thanks, I thought someone might be testing already. Why not the 66 nova? Not in affect yet?
