Was wondering what the deal was with the Maine trailer tags?????

GOOD QUESTION !!
I saw one guy who lives in the southwest with his motorhome registered in Montana and the trailer registered in Maine !! A little strange......

I heard something towards the sales tax on motor home with a resident in Montana. ( po box- etc..)

The Maine tags are much cheaper than a registration in NY for myself and also no sales tax when registering on non motorized vehicle only...heard RV's are done the same way in Montana if you set it up correctly. Call the Maine dmv and they mail forms to you...and you do not have to be a resident of their state.

Interesting....how do you work the liability insurance? Massachusetts is pretty steep for trailers, I think. 89 dollars a year for a 24 foot 7000 lb vintage enclosed...29 dollars for a 2000 lb open trailer

Look at tractor and trailer rigs on the road, 90% register their trailers in Maine because it is cheaper, been that way for 50 years.

staab agency.com they handle it all to register a trailer in maine.
