Smile PBIR Report & Night Photo

Well PBIR managed to pull off the Nostalgia race in spite of rushing to complete the facility. Although some ammenities have yet to be completed they did a fantastic job under the circumstances. A temporary food court was set up that wasn't half bad. They even brought in a large scale temporary restroom (like a double wide mobile home). Probably the biggest issue was pit space but they were quick to help out. And I wouldn't be surprised they have that under control by the Citrus Nats. Truly a work in progress, but they are most definitely going in the right direction.

The track surface is awesome. Prior to my first pass I forgot to drop tire pressure but incredibly it still hooked!! If I did that on the old surface it would have kicked the ***-end out when I lauched. Downtime was minimal, and the program moved along very smooth. All I can say is George Case has made a remarkable difference. Hats off to him and the new PBIR staff. They proved they care about their guests..both racers and spectators

The attached picture was taken within the last couple days, and will give everyone an idea of how the facility looks at night.

Just a few observations. The track surface looks a little narrow, not much room if you get out of what would seem to be a narrow groove. And there are stands only on the right side of the track?
Like I said, not complaining ,just observations of what the picture shows.
I think a wall, instead of a fence, in front of the stands would be a good idea also.Lawyers would have a field day if a car went over the wall and through the fence.

Ed actually the track is the same width as before, but the walls are a bit taller. What surprised me is they sodded the area between the right wall and fence as it's actually wide enough for a pit vehicle access road. The reason for missing left stands is due to the proximity of the road course to the drag strip. Stands could probably be located there, but my guess would be depending on spectator turnout during future events, and would have to be off limits during a simultaneous drag and road course schedule. Like I mentioned I ran there Sunday and didn't feel boxed in at all. One main difference is the walls extending beyond the finish line, unlike before. BTW found a really cool video someone did from the race. Check out the 50's style flag start on one pair.

Default Re: PBIR Report & Night Photo - Update 11/21

Latest report: Friday night T&T 11/21...

Parking still remains an issue. Even though the track surface is still somewhat green by comparible standards it's WAY better than before, and getting riper by the day. There was some down time before my 3rd pass tonight when the track cooled. I spun pretty bad between 1st and 2nd gear. However on my 2nd run the car pulled the wheels like I've never felt before!!! And the groove is wider than ever.

On a side note the place was overrun by fart piped rice boxes tonight. I had stereo of a rotary and a Toyota with a hair dryer, both attempting self destruction exercises as they WINGED the dogsh*t out of their engines. I even took cover as the Toyota idiot held his against the chip for several seconds. Then theres the Mazda idiot... it's a miracle he's even among the living. Every time I see this clown he's either reving it to infinity in the pits, or bouncing off the guardwalls on each shift down the track. I only wished this garbage would stay at Countyline Dragway. Sign of the times I guess.
