Just got back from putting the lettering on Jim Ronzello's and George Wright's new Cobra Jet Mustang Convertible that's in the Ford Motorsport display. In the background is Mike Pustelny's Cobra Jet - #0020. I hear John Calvert will be at the show too. Jim says the convertible can run both AA/S, A/S and SS/E. It's a top shelf piece - can't wait to see it run. Go to http://www.9500rpm.com/ for more info.
For the record - Mopar has the Don Garlits Challenger package car on display - the same on that was used at the Denver unveiling. And for those not familiar with "Autorama" - it's a big custom/drag/enthusiast car show in Detroit that's part of the ISCA show car circuit - and this is the 57th year the Autorama has been held. |

MPR's Cobra Jet isn't the only one in the building. I got mine all lettered up for the show. I know this is the last time my car will be this rubber free! Maybe a match race down Jefferson after the show is over?

Well not only do the CJ's win races, they win car shows. I took 1st place in Competition Stock @ Autorama. I'm not a car show guy by any means, but I figured since it's still cold here in The Mitten why not. Next year she will have some rubber in the wheel wells, so I doubt Autorama will be an option. Ha Ha Ha!
BTW it was raining so Mike and I couldn't match race down Jefferson Ave. We were both wondering where the Camaro's were though? Ohhhhhh that's right they are too scared of the Cobra Jets and Challengers to build one. J/K It is a bummer to see GM Performance sponsoring stuff like Autorama and not having a stock/super stock program. ![]()

I just got off the phone with the winner of the coveted Ridler Award from the Detroit Autorama. Doug Cooper, from Long Island went there with his '31 Ford expecting just to have a good time and show off his hot rod. He ended up winning the biggest, most prevalent prize of the year for custom fabricators. Doug is a huge fan of NHRA Stock and Superstock eliminator and knows a good deal of the Long Island-based racers. Just wanted to congratulate him for an awesome accomplishment. The Ridler Award isn't quite in our circles but it really is the ultimate show of respect.

I was at Cobo Saturday with some friends. I stopped by the Ford display and was quite impressed. I also had a chance to talk with Mike Pulstlney and John Calvert. John told me that after a great deal of hard work the car that won the Winters has been retired. Mike also had some interesting comments about the new Challengers. He felt that they were way under factored. This will be very interesting to watch in the coming season.
