Smile Mopar Blasts From The Past

Gentlemen,

During the creation of my new website (to reduce the outrageous fees incurred with my large eBay Store, and eBay in general) to continue servicing the Mopar musclecar market (which will hopefully generate LOTS of additional revenue in order to entertain RE-ENTERING the "sheer lunacy" of Super Stock racing), I reached into my photo archives to extract some photos I shot beginning in 1966 through approximately 1976, primarily at E-Town, Island and Indy, to create a special page called "Vintage Mopar Drag Racing". There is some pretty cool stuff here that I would like to share, and hopefully all you fellow AARP card holders will remember and enjoy!

After you go to the site www.billrolikenterprises.com, go to the Moparcheology tab on the navigation bar just below the header. Then click on the second drop-down box called Vintage Mopar Drag Racing.

Thanks, and enjoy the photos, the tunes, and the balance of the site!

Thank You very much for putting up those photos! Some truly great heritage there. Interesting to see that in collection, I think 1 enclosed trailer (Judy Lilly), a countless # of open trailers. And a lot of the Mickey Thompson ET Mags....I always thought they looked great. Some of the color schemes are great, and could be a good template for newer cars(Drag Pak Challenger).

Good luck with the new website, I think I remember your adds from the early to late 90's in all the mopar magazines and hemmings when I was collecting and restoring Lil Reds, GTX's, Demons, Darts, before I morphed into a racer type with collectible cars in their own right: # matching 70 challenger stock eliminator car, original lil red express drag truck, 4 speed 340 72 challenger now hig 9's to low 10's 440, pilot truck dakota stock eliminator.

I will bookmark your page and check it out for parts and literature.

Eric,

I have many non-Mopar vintage shots as well, which I may post at a future date.

You can see my own race and musclecar background by clicking on the "Significant Rides" tab.

And If you enjoy travel, vintage stuff and classic rock, go to "Road Trips", the "Concert Info" page for even more tunes, and "About Us" for the obligatory bio.

Have a great day!

P.S. This is certainly a challenging climate to attempt to re-enter the "game", but we are going to give it a go!

Thumbs up Re: Mopar Blasts From The Past

Bill,

You couldn't have picked a better opening song & follow-ups!

But the red & blue link list on the left is overlapping the print and photos. Is that at your end?

Thanks

Myron,

My site has been up about a month, and I have had only four comments pertaining to what you have described. This seems to be a very isolated scenario in the field.

Per my webmaster (after his review of all of the programming codes etc.), this can happen occasionally when certain odd combinations of low screen resolution, monitor size and browser choice are in play. An upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 by itself should do it, but your resolution may need an adjustment. Also, extremely small screens can cause an issue as well.

Thanks for looking in!

Bill. Thanks for the pictures and the tunes. Sure brings a tear to an old mans eye. The good old days when drag racing was a lot more fun. Thanks again.

Talking Re: Mopar Blasts From The Past

Clayton,

Thanks for the kudos.

As time allows, I may put up some vintage "Brand X" photos as well.

I REALLY want to see some Chevy guys cry.

Great photos, Bill. I was also experiencing some text overlap, but it's on the right side of my screen. I have IE 7 and Windows XP, with a 17" monitor. Don't recalll my resolution numbers...

I am fascinated by the picture of the K/SA '70 Valiant on the trailer. That can only be a 318 2bbl car, and I wondered if they had any success with that combination. The HP factor has recently been reduced from 230HP to 185.

Can you remember anything about that car as to its performance? I can certainly understand if you don't....

Congratulations on your return to racing, and the best of luck to you!!!

Bill

Guys, thanks for the input. I will have my webmaster look at this overlapping issue again. In the FEW previous cases, the use of IE7 took care of it. I know he also recommends the higher resolution the better, and he uses IE7 on what I believe is a 21" monitor.

My home office unit is a 19" Dell with Firefox and Vista.

My laptop is a 15.4" Dell with IE6 and XP.

Both are perfect.

We will get on the case right away to see if there is anything left unresolved on this end. Once again, the site has only been up for a month, so there MAY be an elusive gremlin, but he also said that because of the heavy content on my home page, there MAY be only 99% effectiveness in the field.

Thanks again.
