I know it's not S/SS elated but NHRA is going to test a new engine format for the T/F and F/Cs.
Looks like there will be alot of either slow or junk runs for a while till they adapt. 1.) 4.187 Bore 2.) 3.750 Stroke 3.) 7 to 1 Compression 4.) Single 70-gallon fuel pump 5.) 15% overdrive on the blower 6.) No timing management 7.) 350 rear end gear 8.) 90% Nitro Methane limit To my lack of knowledge the biggest hurdle looks like the "no timing management" clause. Maybe a few AA/SA cars will qualify in the short fields. Just a guess,I'll say they will be in the 4.80/295 range in the 1/4.I'm probably way off though. Ed F.

Why don't they just take the wings off of 'em? That'll slow them down, and it's CHEAP!!!

Why not just cut the nitro percentage to 50% MAX, reduce blower over drive, and compression????? OR take one half of the field and start them all at one time at the starting line as usual and the other half of the field and start them all at one time at the finish line and see who can get to the 1/8 mile first.....lol.

That won't work Bill they would just have to peddel them all the time and that would cause them to scatter parts more often.

Even tho it's not S/SS, or SG ,I find the fact that NHRA is trying to reel in the HP on the fuel cars interesting. ....I rarely enjoy watching the fuel cars at the track because so few of the tracks allow a spectator the proper perspectve to appreciate 300+mph. .........The loss of one pump is significant, altho the 3.50 gear will really help slow them even more,as the nitro cars really dont run well unless they are running against a hard load. .......I like the no timing control deal, any one who thinks a Super class car has too much electronics, has not looked at a modern Fuel car ! ......It should take the Allen Johnsons of the Fuel world a little while to overcome the limitations that this combo would present. .....Tom

Looks like the jelly fish in Glendora gave them back the timing management. It seems like no one wants to work hard to achieve a goal anymore.

They're probably doing this in the hopes of going back to full quarter mile racing.....friends of mine that only know what they see on tv can't corrolate the 1000' times and it just doesn't interest them like it used to when they ran the et's that they were familiar with watching in the full quarter mile.
