Default NHRA: Missing Opportunity?

Although not common practice when all qualifying sessions have been run, but this might be a reason to reconsider:

The Great Bend race (D5), was postponed today due to severe weather. The conclusion date will be the Thursday before the Topeka divisional in August. They actually raced for about 10 minutes (15 pairs of S/ST cars, RD 1) before the rains came back to stay. Reopening the remaining fields would, more than likely, considerably, raise the car count for Topeka. With the opportunity to race 2 D5 races in 3 days, would you show up, where you might not otherwise? With only 30 cars in SS and 43 in stock, it would benefit NHRA to do so. Dad's in the field, so the least amount of cars, the better for points, but I'm looking at the big picture. What's your thoughts?

Mike -- This idea works great in IHRA -- The NHRA however doesn't see it that way -- they tried it here in D1 and the racers for the most part liked it but Officials said they would never do it again.........

Just an FYI
Not only did they start Super Street on Sunday morning they ran the full field of Super Gas and Super Comp on Saturday night. The same thing happened at Earlville a few years ago and they would not let anyone in that was not at the original race.
I know I tried.
My 2 Cents

The car count at that Tristate Lucas Oil race was also much better than the turnout at great bend last weekend, 44 stockers and only 31 super stock cars! If they are really looking for extra funds this would be a great alternative for them , who wouldn't want two divisionals in the same weekend?

Forgot about eliminations that were run Sat. night. oops

Also, just read on DRC they are waiting to determine the dates and location for the GB eliminations. Seems funny they said "dates", as if they might be reconsidering the field sizes?? Probably not.

I would assume the fields for the Jeg's All-Stars is locked---as is. Hardly any weekends open before the Chicago National...

St. Louis National this weekend, make-up National Open the following weekend.

National Open in Denver middle of May...

BIR Divisional Memorial Weekend

Topeka National the following weekend

Then Chicago...

Tom - I would hope so.

Trav - You're probably right.

So then...we should have an extra race count for next years All-Star point! Wishful thinking!
