I recently discovered I own Jack Marks' 70 F85 that was raced as a 70, 71, and then a 72 model.
Does anyone have additional old photos of it. I'm also interested if anyone knows if it held any records, if it won class anywhere and/or if it won any events. Thanks in advance. ![]() |

I recall the car. Saw it make some very good runs at what I think was E-Towm at the first year SummerNationals held there in 1971. York was the first event in 1970. We ran the same class and were the record holder at the time H/S 12.25 I never saw any other car like Marks Olds and he ran a very good ET for the conditions....something in the 12.20's if I remember right. I don't recall who won class but it definately wasn't us. My partner and driver decided to leave the line in 3rd gear in the first rd against what should have been an easy opponent. I was not happy to say the least! The record we held was never broken....it was superceded I guess would be the term when rules changes made a lower class car run the same class and he held his record in J/S at 12.23 so his record superceded ours. I remember it very well becasue I sent a letter to NHRA to complain and much to my surprise they printed it in National Dragster. The following year Stock was dropped so none of it mattered.......So I don't think Marks ever set a record unless it was before Sept of 1970 when we set it......and I think the record before us was held by Tom Elk at 12.35.......
