Not sure about your info about the US Nationals .Trailered stockers weren't allowed in'72.
Nor were slicks. If it's a Super Stocker, where is the class designation? Looks like a bracket car to me.

also-develpment date on right edge of pic says oct 72, dating the photograph to the period of stock without slicks/trailers, closer exam of tow car suggests a pennsylvania lic plate if that is any help

Could be right on that, now that you mention it. SS/J would be right. Pro Shift decal on window.
The film could have gone undeveloped for a month too.Remember those days? Now we need an Indy 72 program.

I raced an H/S Chevy II in 1970 and when the rules changed in 1972 that car ran SS/J. There were some Olds racers in H/S and then SS/J......One guy was named Jack Marks and he was from the Ohio area if I recall right......His car was very fast in H/S back in 1970 but I recall it being gold......Maybe a link there?

I know much beer has flowed over my lips since this picture was taken, but I am sure it was at the U.S. Nats '72 as that is where I took my new bride on our honeymoon (I know how to break them in).....LOL Guess what.. She's still with me, and I still love SS/ Oldsmobiles.... Thanks for all the replies.
